Japanese Government Scholarship (MEXT) 2024 Application Guidelines (for Research Students and Undergraduate Students)

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan offers scholarships to distinguished international students who wish to study at Japanese universities.
The Embassy of Japan in Kuwait will accept applications for Research Students and Undergraduates as below.
 
【Important Notice】
Only Kuwaiti citizens can apply through the Embassy of Japan in the State of Kuwait. (Those who have other citizenships should contact the Japanese Embassy in their respective countries).

 Guidelines brief:
  1. Study begins in April, September or October 2024.
  2. Applicant’s date of birth must be on or after April 2, 1989.
  3. Applicant must have enough academic background.
  4. Applicant must choose a major field of study related to their previous university study.
  5. Applicant must have a good command of English and willing to learn Japanese language.
  6. Applicants must read the guideline carefully and submit all the required documents by hand to the Embassy.
  7. Incomplete applications will NOT be considered.
  8. Embassy will start receiving applications from May 7, 2023 (Sunday).
  9. Deadline of receiving applications is June 15, 2023 (Thursday) at 03:00 P.M.
  10. The application screening result will be announced later by email/phone.
  11. Late applications will NOT be considered (Any application submission after 03:00 P.M on June 15, 2023 will NOT be accepted).
  12. Applicants who pass the application screening will have the written examination in late June. The result will be announced in a few days after the examination by email/phone.
  13. Applicants who pass the written examination will have an interview early July. The result will be announced in a few days after the interview by email/phone.
  14. Applicants who pass the examination and interview will be recommended to MEXT, and MEXT will conduct the second screening. The final result will be announced sometime around February 2024.

Guidelines brief:
  1. Study begins in April 2024.
  2. Applicants must be born on or after April 2, 1999.
  3. Applicants must have completed a 12 academic years, and obtained distinguished academic scores for the last three years.
  4. Applicants must have a good command of English and willing to learn Japanese language.
  5. Applicants must read the guideline carefully and submit all the required documents by hand to the Embassy.
  6. Incomplete applications will NOT be considered.
  7. Deadline of receiving applications is June 15, 2023 (Thursday) at 03:00 P.M.
  8. The application screening result will be announced later by email/phone.
  9. Late applications will NOT be considered (Any application submission after 03:00 P.M on June 15, 2023 will NOT be accepted).
