Japanese Government Scholarship (MEXT) 2023 Application Guideline (for Research Students and Undergraduates)

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) of Japan offers scholarships to distinguished international students who wish to study at Japanese universities.
The Embassy of Japan in Kuwait will accept applications for Research Students and Undergraduates as below.
 
【Important Notice】

1. If the situation is not suitable for the selection due to COVID-19 pandemic, the entire selection schedule may be changed or cancelled.
2. Applicants must have Kuwaiti nationality (Those who have other nationality should contact Japanese Embassy in their respective countries).

 
[Overview of the Scholarship for Research Students]

1. Study begins in April, September or October 2023.
2. Applicants ' date of birth must be on or after April 2, 1988.
3. Applicant must have enough academic background.
4. Applicant must choose a major field of study related to his/her previous university study.
5. Applicant must have a good command of English and willing to learn Japanese language.
6. Applicants must read the guideline carefully and submit all the required documents by hand to the Embassy.
7. Incomplete applications will NOT be considered.
8. Embassy will start receiving application from May 8, 2022 (Sunday).
9. Deadline of receiving applications is June 30, 2022 (Thursday). The application screening result will be announced later by email/phone.
10. Late application will NOT be considered (Any application after 3 P.M of the last day WILL NOT be accepted).
11. Applicants who pass the application screening will have the written examinations earlyJuly.The result will be announced in a few days after the examination by email/phone.
12. Applicants who pass the examination will have an interview early July. The result will be announced in a few days after the interview by email/phone.
13. Applicants pass the examination and interview will be recommended to MEXT, and MEXT will conduct the second screening. The final result will be announced sometime around February 2023.

1. Study begins in April 2023.
2. Applicants must be born on or after April 2, 1998.
3. Applicants must have completed a 12 academic years, and obtained distinguished transcripts for the last three years.
4. Applicants must have a good command of English and willing to learn Japanese language.
5. Applicants must read the guideline carefully and submit all the required documents by hand to the Embassy.
6. Incomplete applications will NOT be considered.
7. Deadline of receiving applications is June 30, 2022 (Thursday).The application screening result will be announced later by email/phone.
8. Late application will NOT be considered (Any application after 3 P.M of the last day WILL NOT be accepted).
9. Embassy will start receiving application from May 8, 2022 (Sunday).
10. Applicants who pass the application screening will have the written examinations early July.The result will be announced in a few days after the examination by email/phone.
11. Applicants who pass the examination will have an interview early July. The result will be announced in a few days after the interview by email/phone.
12. Applicants pass the examination and interview will be recommended to MEXT, and MEXT will conduct the second screening. The final result will be announced sometime around December 2022.
