Symposium on the Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) vision

On March 14, 2022, a Kuwaiti independent think-tank, Reconnaissance Research hosted a symposium regarding Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) vision, wherein our embassy’s DCM, Counsellor KANEKO Koji made opening remarks on behalf of Ambassador-Designate, Mr. MORINO Yasunari. In this symposium, Prof. KANEHARA Nobukatsu of Doshisha University attended online as a keynote speaker. The professor spoke about the importance of FOIP as a norm to counter attempts to change the status-quo by power and its effectiveness for the Gulf region to secure its maritime security and economic prosperity.
